On a slighlty chilly afternoon Hawkley took to the field after losing the toss.
After a couple of wayward overs the Hawkley bowling improved and both Sam and Little Chris kept the opposition run rate acceptable. Nipper and Viv finally removed the 2 good batsmen and Hawkley then cleaned up the rest with 3 overs to spare.
After tea Hawkley were chasing down 211 which was defnitiely very possible with the team we were fielding. Unfortunatley the top order failed to score. Burks out for a first ball duck and Twiggy low scoring after being hit on the body. 2 easy catches given by Dapper and Johhny Retro left a lot for the tail to do. A fine innings by Viv (77) with some good support from Nipper, Sam and little Chris got us close and unfortunately we were all out for 173 with 9 overs to spare.
A disappointing result as we were very capable fo winning this match - never mind.
Next week Journo will be back writing reports- thankfully- and Hawkley have to leave the sacred turf and explore wickets away at Buriton.
